Inspired by the eggshell porcelain tableware produced in Jingdezhen kilns in 1400s, FOLDED ROCKS collection has a contemporary and rustic appearance. To preserve this traditional handcraft, ceramic artist Hou Ying has been studying the craft, and he keeps looking for new dimensions and opportunities by combining old crafts techniques with cutting-edge new technologies to create new products that can thrive in the current lifestyle. His work uses the tactility of material and form to invite you to slow down and appreciate a moment holding an object that feels good.

Designed to be used for serving cold and warm drinks, the cups feature a thin, translucent textured surface of grained paper that balances the design. Due to the nature of eggshell porcelain, this product is not suitable for direct use in microwaves, ovens or dishwashers. As some steps are performed by hand, each product gets a unique finish and slight variations in shape might occur.
